The Metodo Benozzi® is the first pharmacological treatment for the Presbyopia and the only one registered worldwide. This treatment consists in the use of artificial tears prescribed by an ophthalmologist and it is used daily. Through this treatment you manage to put into place what was lost by the presbyopia, being able to live without wearing glasses or avoiding surgeries.
The Metodo Benozzi® is not applied to any person, each situation has to be particularly evaluated to determine if the pharmacological treatment for Presbyopia is going to be beneficial or not. To start with, the Metodo Benozzi® can be used by healthy patients who suffer presbyopia (in general those who are more than 40 years old), having this been associated to other patient´s refractive conditions such as hypermetry, myopia and astigmatism.
Patients who cannot get benefits from this method are those who have been operated of Cataracts (because they no longer have crystalline lens) and all those patients who have any other ocular disorders (except glaucoma or ocular hypertension) such as maculopathy, retinopathy, and retinal detachment, among others.
There are several counter indications of using the pharmacological treatment Metodo Benozzi® for example that the patient apart from suffering Presbyopia has other ocular disorders that cause the reduction of sight for other causes different to the loss of eye accommodation.
