Centro Benozzi team of professionals

Dr. Jorge Benozzi

He was born in San Pedro, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He graduated as a physician from the University of Buenos Aires, where he also completed his specialization in Ophthalmology and his Doctorate in Medicine.

His first mentor, at Hospital Durand, Professor Gustavo Piantoni, helped him obtain a scholarship in 1978 at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Ghent, Belgium, to work and continue his training with Professors Jules François and Virgilio Victoria Troncoso. From that point on he became a disciple, as an ophthalmologist and researcher, of these mentors, publishing numerous medical research articles with a critical eye toward medical practice in general and ophthalmology in particular.

In 2014, during a storm in the Atlantic Ocean, Dr. Benozzi was lost at sea together with three friends.

Dr. Benozzi left behind a paradigm shift for ophthalmology worldwide and an open path for science.

Dr. Giovanna Benozzi

She completed her medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires, graduating in 2006, and specialized in Ophthalmology at Universidad del Salvador.

She completed her ophthalmology residency at Centro de Ojos Quilmes (2007-2010) and at Hospital Evita Pueblo in Berazategui.

She was recertified as an ophthalmology specialist by AMA and CRAMA. Within the subspecialties, she earned qualifications in Ultrasound and Glaucoma.

Since then she has dedicated herself to clinical ophthalmology while simultaneously pursuing ophthalmological research, with a particular interest in accommodation and presbyopia.

She regularly teaches courses on the pharmacological treatment of presbyopia, both nationally and internationally.

She is a full member of the Argentine Society of Ophthalmology (SAO), the Argentine Council of Ophthalmology (CAO), the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).

She currently serves on the board of the Argentine Glaucoma Foundation (FAG) and as treasurer of the Argentine Society of Presbyopia (SAP).

She chairs Centro Benozzi and is director of the Advanced Presbyopia Research Center (CIAP), where she works as a staff specialist physician and heads the Presbyopia Department.
